ST. VID - THE PATH BETWEEN SIMUN AND KOLAN

ST. VID - THE PATH BETWEEN SIMUN AND KOLAN

N 44° 28' 35.6'' E 14° 59' 41.5''  The closest approach by vehicle is the sharp turn of the asphalt road between Šimun and Kolan, in the area of Drago. At the bend, the macadam road separates and you can continue driving for another 750 m to the farm buildings. It must be taken into account that the road is narrow (only for one vehicle) and two to three vehicles can be parked on the extension at the end of the road.

From here, the path to the south follows the upper part of Kolanjsko polje along its eastern edge. Follow this path until it ends and continue along the path in the same direction to the place where it turns to the right to the west in a length of ten meters, crossing the peak of the field.

You come to a "door", a passage between a dry wall enclosed by a wooden barrier to prevent the movement of sheep from one side to the other. After the "door", continue along the path further south through the area of Dugać. Reach the end of the dry-walled plots of the "fence" field and continue in the same direction for another hundred meters through the large stone block on the right side of the path where the intersection is.

Marking for St. Vid continues along the path to the left up the hill to the east, the marked path to Šimuni leads directly to the south, and the unmarked path to the right up the hill to the west also leads to Šimuni.

After climbing the path to the east to the plateau and the bare karst, cross it, and finish the ascent above the larger puddle on the side of the road along the final head of the peak.

At the top is the ruined church of St. Vida. At the top there are traces of the life of the ancient Illyrians - Gradac.

Sveti Vid is the highest peak of the island of Pag, and it is located directly above the bay of Pag. The views are open on all sides. You can see most of the island's towns (Pag, Kolan, Šimuni, Košljun, ...), and also the neighboring islands (Rab, Mali Lošinj, Silba, Olib, Maun, ...). The northern horizon is dominated by numerous Velebit peaks and hips.
