ZATON PEDESTRIAN TRAIL AND VELI ZATON BEACH

ZATON PEDESTRIAN TRAIL AND VELI ZATON BEACH

44°28'10.1"N 15°03'40.4"E

Path from the other side of the moon – Zaton path (Veli Zaton bay). It is an extremely interesting and easy trail that leads to Zaton bay and offers a view of Paška vrata, the islet of small Maškalic in the shape of a small crocodile, and phenomenal, amazing rock formations and "moon" wonders. If you like stories about history, you will satisfy your curiosity here because on this trail you will reach Veles' closed cave, named after the god from Old Slavic mythology who is fighting his eternal battle with the god Perun.

Privacy, silence and relaxation are the real benefits of a stay at Veli Zaton beach, whose landscape complements the specific moonscape of both Paška Bay and the coast on the side of the Velebit Channel. The closest place to Veli Zaton beach is the town of Pag, 2 km south of the beach. The beach is located in the area of Paška vrata, the passage that leads from Paška bay to the Velebit channel. The beach can be reached by sea and on foot.

The bay in which the beach is located is several times larger than the bay of the neighboring Mali Zaton beach, from which Veli Zaton is separated by a natural barrier of a rocky hill. Velebit Mountain magnificently completes the whole scene. The silence harmoniously alternates with the sound of waves and seagulls proudly spreading their wings between the blue of the sky and the sea.

The coast is covered with gravel, and the seabed is covered with stones and, in places, sand. Entering the sea, the depths quickly follow, inviting their guests to take a mask and enjoy exploring the marine world.

Due to the absence of natural shade and the offer of catering facilities, it is necessary to bring sun protection, refreshments and umbrellas.
